Blink may refer to any of the following:

  1. In general, blink describes the intermittent flashing of a light. For example, a computer LED (light-emitting diode) may blink when data is copied to or from a hard drive.

  2. With HTML, blink was an HTML tag that created blinking text on a web page. The blink tag is no longer supported in more recent browser versions. See our page for further information.

A blinking light often indicates something is happening. For example, data transfer or a battery charging.

A blinking light can also indicate a hardware problem. For example, an Apple Mac power cord blinking means there is a problem with the battery or charging hardware. The device’s documentation will explain these.
