Short for blind carbon copy, BCC sends copies of e-mail without displaying any of the names or e-mails in the e-mail. Keep in mind that most programs do not display the BCC field. However, anyone familiar with their e-mail program can enable this field to see all e-mail addresses and names.

What should I put in an e-mail BCC field?

Unless you plan on sending a blind carbon copy, the BCC field can be left blank. If you want to send a BCC, you can enter one or more e-mail addresses into the BCC field.

To help protect privacy and e-mail contacts, we suggest sending the e-mail individually to each address or using a third-party mailing program to distribute your e-mail. The BCC field is not intended as a secure method of distributing an e-mail to an e-mail list.
