BC may refer to any of the following:

  1. When referring to a command, bc is a language for performing arbitrary-precision math calculations. See our Linux bc command page for further information, syntax, and examples.

  2. B.C. is short for “before Christ” and is a description of time before the birth of Jesus Christ. Some choose to use BCE (before common era) as a way to describe the same period and avoid religious connotation.   3. With chat and text messaging bc or b/c is chant slang for “because.”

  4. With hexadecimal “BC” or “0xBC” is the decimal equivalent of 188.
