Asana is a collaborative online information management tool, helping teams visually manage their time and individual tasks. Founded in 2008 by Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz and engineer Justin Rosenstein, Asana was launched commercially in April 2012.
In the Asana system, component tasks of a project are organized as “cards,” arranged in columns on a “board.” Cards can be moved, reassigned, and recategorized as work progresses toward the project goal. The system is modeled on Kanban, a Japanese scheduling technique to efficiently achieve production goals.
