Introduced with the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update in October 2011, Android Beam is a feature that uses NFC to wirelessly transfer files between compatible Android devices. Android Beam can transfer photos, videos, and other small media files between Android smartphones and tablets within a few seconds.

How to use Android Beam

  • Make sure both devices have NFC enabled in settings.
  • Select the share icon in your preferred photo or file storage application.
  • Select Android Beam from the list of options.
  • Press the two devices together back-to-back.
