An entry may refer to any of the following:

  1. Often, an entry refers to a word, phrase, number, or other information submitted to a field. Examples include a spreadsheet, database, or Internet browser form. Although what you enter in one field may be more than one word or number, it’s considered a whole entry. For example, when filling out an online form, your name, address, phone, and e-mail are each considered an entry.

  2. Entry describes a user or program gaining access to a computer or network.
