A cable or plug that splits one connection into multiple connections. Some early modems required a splitter to connect to the back of them. However, most modems today now have two phone connections and no longer require a splitter, the splitters used today splitters are often used to connect multiple phones to a single jack. As seen in the illustration, one end connects to the wall and the other end connects to the wall and a phone.
