Socket 939 is a CPU and motherboard architecture released by AMD released by AMD in June 2004. It was superseded by Socket AM2 technology in May 2006, but motherboards supporting Socket 939 technology were still being manufactured as recently as 2009.
Processors supported by Socket 939 technology included both single and dual-core versions of the Athlon 64, Athlon 64 FX, Athlon 64 X2, Sempron, and Opteron families of processors.
