A search key may refer to any of the following:
- On a Google Chromebook, the Search key is a replacement for the Caps Lock key on traditional PC and Mac computer keyboards. As shown in the picture, the Chromebook search key is a magnifying glass. When pressed, it opens a search for the web and your apps at the same time.
To turn Caps Lock on and off on a Google Chromebook, press the Alt and Search key at the same time.
- A search key is a string or other data that is used as input for searching a database, search engine, or script. For example, in the URL below, “q=example+search” is the search key used with the Computer Hope search.cgi script to search for “example search.”
