A head slot is the opening on the 5.25-inch or 3.5-inch floppy disk that allows the floppy disk drive to read data from the floppy.
On the 3.5" floppy disk (as shown), the head slot is found behind the read/write metal access door that slides left to right to expose the floppy disk.
With a 5.25-inch floppy diskette the head slot is the hole at the bottom of the diskette exposing the floppy disk.
