Alternatively written as Control+Y and C-y, ^y, Ctrl+Y is a keyboard shortcut often used to redo an action reversed using the undo command. For example, if you used the Ctrl+Z shortcut to undo what you thought was a mistake, but realize it wasn’t, you could press Ctrl+Y to redo the previous action.

How to use the Ctrl+Y keyboard shortcut

To use this keyboard shortcut, press and hold either Ctrl key, and while continuing to hold, press Y.

If the Ctrl+Z shortcut has not been pressed, Ctrl+Y doesn’t work as there is nothing to redo.

On Apple computers, the shortcut for redo is Command+Y.
