Tritton Kunai Troubleshooting

When you speak into the microphone no audio is transmitted.

It is likely that the microphone is not connected properly. To connect the microphone properly, start by aligning the arrow on the microphone with the arrow on the headset. Once the arrows are aligned, slide the microphone into the microphone port on the headset and once fully inserted twist it clockwise to lock into place.

On the inline audio controller there is a mute switch that allows you to control the operation of your microphone. There is an orange area behind the switch which will be visible when your microphone is muted. Make sure that your microphone is not muted.

To make sure the settings are set properly, go to the PlayStation Settings. Next, scroll down and select Sound Settings. In Sound Settings, go to Audio Output Settings and select Audio Input Connector / SCART / AV MULTI. Save the settings. Next, go back to PlayStation Settings and select Accessory Settings. In Accessory Settings, select Audio Device Settings. In Audio Device settings, make sure that the Input Device and Output Device selected is the TRITTON KUNAI STEREO HEADSET and click okay to save the settings.

The stereo audio connecter must be connected to the PS Vita audio outlet and the microphone mute option on the PS Vita must be disabled.

The detachable microphone might have a faulty audio jack. To fix this problem, simply swap your TRITTON Kunai detachable microphone with another microphone. Another solution to this problem would be to replace the audio jack.

The structure that connects the two earpieces and rests upon the top of the head has broken into two pieces.

The rail adjustment of the headset might have been under more tension than it can handle causing it to break in half. To rejoin the two pieces, wrap several layers of duct tape, tightly, around the crack. If you want a sturdier bond, you could place a metal bracket (two pieces of metal that are screwed together to create a solid connection) around the crack and screw it into place to secure the two pieces together.

Only the right ear is producing no sound, or unwanted sound.

Make sure your headset is completely dry and you don’t allow liquid to come into contact with the earpiece. Submerge your headphones in rice for 24 hours and then blow them dry for ten seconds to remove any rice particles and dry excess liquid. If you ever need to clean your earpiece use alcohol swabs (no other liquids or cleaners).

There may be a wiring problem! You will need to get some tools and take apart your headset to determine if there are any loose, disconnected or frayed wires. Then you will need to repair any problems; this can be done with wire of the same material and gauge and electrical tape. If you are really ambitious you can try soldering the wires together. Here is our right speaker repair guide.

Speakers are producing undesirable sound, that should not be occurring.

Instead of plugging your Headset’s USB power cable directly into the Xbox 360, use an AC to USB Power Adapter. Since the PlayStation 3 uses the USB cable for voice chat, you will not be able to use an AC to USB Power Adapter when using the headset with the PlayStation 3.

If you do not have access to an AC to USB Power Adapter, try using a different USB port on the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3. Usually the rear USB ports on the Xbox 360 cause the least amount of noise.

Turn off the SVM feature. Having the SVM feature on can sometimes cause noise issues. Here is our buzzing speaker repair guide.

The speaker is not producing sound or not providing an audio output that should be delivered.

If you are using a PlayStation 3 the USB cable must be connected to the USB outlet on the PlayStation console, the RCA connectors must be connected to the AV outlets, and the headset must be connected to the inline controller.

If you are using a PS Vita, simply insert the stereo audio connecter into the headset outlet on the PS VITA.

If the inline audio controller is connected locate the two dials on one side of your device. These knobs control the volume; one is for game audio, and the other is for player audio. Adjust these knobs and ensure the volume is not turned all the way down.

If you are using a PS Vita, ensure that the audio control on your gaming device is not turned all the way down.

If the problem persists, a replacement speaker may be needed or other hardware may need to be replaced. There may be loose, frayed or disconnected wires also.If so, the frayed wires must be cut out and replaced by soldering new wire that connects to the good existing wire.
