If Laptop exceeds normal temperature due to excessive and/or produces a loud whirring noise.
The first thing you should check is to see if your fan is being blocked by something or has collected a large amount of dust. Here is a guide [hyperlink to future guide] that shows the steps on how to get access to the fan to check. If you find that this is not the problem, proceed with the guide to learn how to replace the fan itself.
If your device is overheating constantly, the cause may be your fan being faulty or broken. No matter what it may be a replacement is recommended. Here is a guide to replace the fan.
Another cause of overheating may be due to heavily demanding/intensive programs or non compatible programs running on your computer. There are a multitude of reasons such as not enough ram, or a non-compatible GPU/CPU. A recommendation would be to close any unnecessary programs that aren’t in use or reduce the graphics or level of detail in such programs.
Device won’t turn on unless AC Adapter is plugged into wall and device.
If your device refuses to power on unless it is plugged in, it may not be detecting its battery. Power down your device and take out the battery - if you are unsure of how to do this, use this guide for reference. After a few seconds, place the battery back and try turning your device on. If this does not help, you may need to replace your battery. You can use this guide to do so.
If your device won’t turn on unless its plugged into the wall, the problem may lie with a faulty battery. Keeping the device plugged in for long amounts of time cause the battery life to shorten greatly and the only fix is to replace the battery. To replace it, use this guide.
When the screen is blank and unresponsive but you know the laptop is on.
The first thing that should be checked if your device is on but nothing seems to be appearing on screen may be a low screen brightness. All that’s recommended is to try and turn up the brightness and see if there are any changes - if not, it may be one of the more serious issues listed below.
The issue may be caused by the lack of RAM or the RAM is non-compatible with your laptop’s motherboard.In both cases, you may need to change or upgrade your RAM. To do so, you can use this guide.
Check for any external damage. If your screen is cracked or if it has come into contact with any liquids, you will need to replace it. You can use this guide to replace your screen.
The wires between the motherboard and the screen may be loose or have gone bad. The poor connection may simply be a result of a wire coming loose from the motherboard. After shutting down your laptop, attempt to remove then reconnect the wire to its connector - if your display shows, then the problem has been solved. When you press the keys and the keyboard remains unresponsive.
There is the possibility your keyboard driver has run into a problem, sometimes this can be caused by shutting down your device without using the proper Shutdown command. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the generic drivers for your keyboard. If this does not, your problem may be a hardware issue rather than a software one. If so, check to make sure the keys aren’t blocked or dirty, and if that is not the issue, a replacement may be in order.
When you are typing and the keyboard’s buttons are not responding or they tend to get stuck/not press down completely, then your keyboard may be due for a cleaning. To properly clean your keyboard, begin by first shutting down your laptop and detaching all connecting cables. Tilt your laptop until the keys are facing downwards, and gently shake the device to let out any dust and/or particulates. Use compressed air to rid any remaining dust and debris, then apply a cotton swab dipped in isopropanol alcohol to finish the process. Device has started to become slow when running or opening programs or has delayed responses
The issue may be caused by the lack of RAM or the RAM is non-compatible with your laptop’s motherboard. To check, you must be in the system settings located in the control panel, if more than 50% is being used a lack of RAM may be an issue, or a compatibility issue may be the cause as well. In both cases, you may need to change or upgrade your RAM. To do so, you can use this guide.
A Hard Drive is an integral part of a computer so if it is corrupted or close to maximum capacity or use, a multitude of problems can occur. When it is close to maximum capacity or full, a cleaning should be done to free up any unneeded data and space. If it is corrupted, a replacement would be advised.
