First, make sure that the brightness on the laptop is turned up by adjusting the settings on your laptop. To do this, hold down the Fn key on your keyboard while pressing the F7 key until desired brightness is reached. The device may also be in power saving mode causing it to dim the display. Plug in your laptop to ensure it is fully charged and not in power saving mode to avoid a dim screen.
Make sure the display has not been sent to a second screen or set to projector mode by holding down the Windows key while pressing the “P” key twice. By doing this, you reset the display to “Computer Only” which reverts the display to your laptop screen.
If you have completed the steps above and the screen is still not functioning, you may need to replace it using the Display Replacement Guide.

Certain old system updates through Windows 10 may cause random shutdowns. In order to avoid this, make sure your laptop is always up to date with the latest software. To do this, press the Windows key and click the gear icon on the bottom left of the start menu to access settings. Next, click the “Update & Security” category and finally click “Check for Updates.”
If all software is up to date and the device still shuts off while unplugged, the battery may be reaching the end of its shelf life and will need to be replaced.

The RAM temporarily stores data which is cleared after each restart. In order for the laptop to run efficiently, the RAM cannot be full. RAM becomes full when too many tasks are running on the device. If you are experiencing freezing issues after restarting your device, you may need to upgrade your RAM.
The Hard Drive stores all device data and allows the computer to run smoothly. Once all software and RAM has been checked and you are still experiencing freezing issues, the hard drive may be at fault. If this is the case, the hard drive must be replaced.
If all the above issues have been ruled out, the motherboard may be failing which means it will require a replacement using the Motherboard Replacement Guide.
