Introduction

A filter cartridge creates healthy water for fish by converting harmful chemicals like ammonia and nitrite into less harmful nitrates.

Replacing the filter cartridge in a filter is common for aquarium owners who want to maintain a healthy environment for their fish in an aquarium.

Before using this guide, ensure you have a new filter cartridge that is compatible with the filter.

What you need

Step 1

              Filter cartridge               
  • Make sure the filter is turned off!
  • Unplug the filter.

  • Remove the filter lid by pushing it up with both hands.

  • Pull the old filter cartridge out of the filter.
  • Dispose of it in the garbage afterwards.

  • Rinse the new filter cartridge with cold water.

  • Put the lid back on.
