What you need

Step 1

              Removal of TiVo Series 2 TCD540080 Case               
  • Power down the TiVo and detach the power cable from the rear of the unit.
  • Wait 5 minutes for the unit to fully discharge before proceeding to the next step.

Step 2

  • Remove the five T10 screws from the rear of the case using the Torx screwdriver.

  • Lift up and pull back the outer casing towards the rear of the unit.

Step 4

              Hard Drive               
  • Disconnect the power to the hard drive.

Disconnect the power to the hard drive.

Step 5

  • Grab the hard drive data cable from both sides of the connector and unplug it from the hard drive.
  • Use extreme caution when unplugging connector and do not disconnect the data cable by pulling on the cable itself.

Step 6

  • Unscrew the two screws on the case of the hard drive with a T10 screwdriver.
  • Pull the hard drive up and out of the TiVo unit.

Step 7

  • Unscrew the four screws, shown in the picture, with a T-10 screwdriver.
  • Remove the hard drive from the case.

Remove the hard drive from the case.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
