The phone is not charging when plugged in to the USB Charging Cable.
If there is any outside substance on your charging cable, it can interfere with the USB fitting perfectly into your phone, therefore preventing charging. Make sure that there is no moisture on or in the USB port. Also use a gentle object like a paintbrush or a toothbrush to remove any dirt or lint that may be in the USB port.
If your USB Cable is damaged, that means that current is not able to flow through completely, which is why your device is not charging. Your USB Cable is damaged if the plastic coating has come off and the cable has wires that are frayed. This can be temporarily fixed with electrical tape, but the long term solution is buying a new one.
Using a third-party USB charging cable that is incompatible with your phone can be a reason that your phone is not charging because current is not able to flow. Make sure that you are using the original charging cable for your phone. If you do not own that cable, use a USB charging cable that is certified by Sony to be compatible with your phone.
There may be apps on your phone that you have downloaded that are preventing your phone from charging. If your phone has enough battery, put it in safe mode, which will disable all third-party apps so that the only apps running are the ones from Sony. To put your phone in Safe Mode, do the following:
- Step 1: While the device is on, press and hold the power buttonStep 2: Touch and hold the power off option until your phone is shut downStep 3: The Safe Mode prompt will appear on your phone. Tap OK. Your phone will restart in Safe ModeStep 4: Plug your phone into your charger
If your phone charges, some third-party apps are the problem and you will need to uninstall them. If your phone does not charge while in Safe Mode, it is some other issue.
Note: You will know your phone is in Safe Mode because a “Safe Mode” badge will show up on the screen.
To turn off Safe Mode, do the following:
- Step 1: While the device is on, press and hold the power buttonStep 2: Touch and hold the power off option until your phone is shut downStep 3: Touch and hold and hold the power button until phone restarts
If you have too many apps running at once, this could be taking up memory and causing internal software problems that are preventing your phone from charging. Force restarting the phone will close all the apps that are running. Force restart your phone by:
- Step 1: Connect your phone to the chargerStep 2: Press and hold the power and volume up buttons are the same time for 15 secondsStep 3: After your phone has vibrated 3 times, release the keys. Your phone will now shut down.Step 4: Press the power key to turn your phone on after waiting 30 seconds

There are pixels on the screen that are black.
Try restarting the phone to see if the pixels return to their proper color and start responding.
Free applications can be used to test and fix stuck pixels. There are websites online or downloadable apps that use software to flash multiple colors on the area of the screen where the stuck pixels are. This method can often fix stuck or dead pixels within ten minutes.
If the pixels fail to respond to attempts to unstick them or the area of the screen with the unresponsive pixels has lost touchscreen capabilities, the screen is likely faulty. To fix a faulty screen, the screen may need to be replaced.
The phone is often hot to the touch.
The use of an application while simultaneously running background applications requires a lot of processing power. This can overwork the processor causing it to overheat. Close unnecessary applications that may be drawing power.
Using a third party charging cable that is incompatible can result in overheating. It is always best to use the original charging cable; however, if you no longer own the original cable, find a USB-C certified by Sony.
If the air surrounding the phone is warm, it can make it difficult for the phone to cool down. Move the phone into a cooler environment.
Applications, like graphically intense video games or HD video, can use a lot of power causing the phone to overheat. Take breaks and allow your phone to cool down before returning to your application.
The screen does not respond when being touched.
Wipe the screen with a clean cloth. If there is a screen protector, make sure there are no air bubbles or dirt under the screen protector.
Try turning the phone off and on to see if the screen starts responding. If turning it off and on normally does not work, the phone may need to restarted or shut down. To shut down the phone hold the power button and the lower volume button at the same time for six seconds. After this the phone will vibrate once. To restart the phone release now. To force shut down the phone continue holding until the phone vibrates three more times and turns off.
The settings for the functionalities of your touchscreen may be changed. Carry out the touchscreen functionalities test for your device by following these steps:
