The device would randomly disconnect from newer iPhones leading to Apple CarPlay malfunctioning.
One of the main reasons for this problem is having Siri inactive. The stereo would not recognize the iPhone without Siri being active. To resolve this issue, the user should turn on Siri and make it active while the device is on.
Most iPhones would have applied Apple CarPlay restrictions applied when the phone is new. This may prevent the device from recognizing the phone; thus, the user needs to adjust that through the phone’s general settings. To do so, General -> Restrictions On My Phone -> Turn Off. This process should definitely resolve the issue.
The device will be running smoothly and would suddenly shuts off when the device is on.
Having the device in direct contact with sunlight will cause the device to overheat. You should make sure to install the device where there is any type of shade to prevent any expose to sunlight. In addition, try not to keep the device running for more than 5 hours, especially during long road trips.
Whenever you try connecting your phone via USB lightning cable to the device, the system would not identified your device or Apple CarPlay would not be working properly.
Make sure to use the original ordinary USB lightning cable made by Apple, because the last few years, Apple has been releasing updates of its IOS and changing the behavior of music playback over the wired connection. Therefore, using an original USB lightning cable would ultimately resolve this issue.
The screen would turn black whenever the user connects their phone through Android Auto.
A number of users noticed that the issue disappears whenever the user disconnects their Android phone from the USB that they are using. Try switching out your USB cable while using Android Auto. In addition, Sony has just released device updates, so make sure your device has the latest update.
The device would beep too long when the user switches it off.
Although a lot of users may see this as an issue, Sony sees it as a feature. The device’s default settings force it to produce a beeping sound whenever the user switches the device off. Sometimes this feature would not work properly, which can cause the device to beep for long period of time. To adjust this, simultaneously press the “SEL” or “SOUND” button and the “6” button on the head unit. Pressing these buttons would restore the beep function.
