The computer will not respond to the power button being pressed.
The Sony Vaio had a removable battery that attaches to the bottom of the laptop. Using the Lock/Unlock function on the left side of the bottom of the laptop, you can unlock the battery from the base of the laptop. Using the release on the right side, you can slide the battery off the laptop dock and replace the battery unit.
The Sony Vaio uses a charger with 19.5V output. Plugging in or attempting to plug in the charger with the wrong adapter can lead to burnout of the charger. Use the proper adapter given with the laptop to ensure that a power surge does not occur.
Try plugging in the laptop to its designated charger, wait for a while for the laptop to gain a charge and try again. If that still does not work, it might be a problem listed above or a charger issue.
The charger for this model is not properly functioning.
Ensure that the charger is not overworking if the laptop is fully charged, unplug the charger to maintain the proper temperature. Make sure the charger is not in direct sunlight, or in an overheated place because that puts the unit at risk of burning out and not working. If you believe it is burnt out after being overly exposed to heat, buy a replacement cable for this model.
Noises that are emitting from your laptop, or lack thereof.
If your fan is making a loud, unusual, noise while running, there could be debris stuck inside of it. Clearing this debris requires accessing the inside of the laptop and removing the debris manually.
If the fan has stopped working, it can sometimes be fixed with a hard reset of the computer. This is done by removing the battery and AC adapter then pressing and holding it for 20 seconds. It could also be an issue of the AC adapter. Use another adapter to see if the voltage is correct. If neither of these solutions work, accessing the inside of the laptop to examine the fan is necessary. If there is any debris, remove it.
If the hard drive recently started making noise, your laptop may simply need to be rebooted. First, disconnect all power cords and eject any disks from your laptop and mute your volume. If the clicking persists after you reboot your laptop, your hard drive will likely need to be replaced. First, back up all important files onto a large flash drive or a cloud system or they will be lost. Then follow the Sony Vaio VGN-SZ120P Hard Drive Replacement

If any distortion is visible when the computer is off, the issue is most likely due to physical damage to the screen. Try troubleshooting the LCD monitor with the steps mentioned above.
