Device screen will not power on or respond and will remain black.

Before attempting any further options, make sure to try and leave the tablet plugged in overnight, or at least a couple hours. This should charge the battery and allow usage.

When the power adapter is plugged in, a small indicator light should turn on. If no light is present, it’s possible that the battery has reached the end of its life and will no longer charge. It is advised to replace the battery.

Does the fan spin up, but the device still isn’t showing any output? There could be a problem with the screen assembly. To see if this is the issue, obtain a mini-HDMI to HDMI cable, connect the tablet to an external monitor, and turn the device on again. If Windows 8 or 10 is installed, when the device recognizes the new display, it will mirror the tablet’s output to the screen. If the external monitor displays the tablet desktop or login screen, the screen will need to be replaced.

Device is not responsive to any input through the Keyboard

If the keyboard stops working after a Windows update, some settings might have been reset. In this case, the issue is with the filter key function. To correct this, click on the stopwatch icon in the system tray located on the right side of the taskbar. Uncheck the option for “Disable filter key”. Restart the device.

It is possible that the keyboard is out of range. Ensure that the keyboard is no more than 50 cm away from the device, and is away from interference sources such as microwave or other high powered device.

If the keyboard is in range, the issue could be with the device’s wireless settings. For Windows 8 and 8.1, open the charms bar and select the Settings charm. Select Change PC Settings in the lower corner and select Wireless in the left pane. Turn off Airplane mode and change the Keyboard Reciever set to on. Then turn the power and touch pad on/off switch to off and turn it on again.

Blinking indicates that the battery is getting low. Charge the keyboard using the connector on the device.

The Tablet will not play any sound through the built in speakers and/or through plugged in speakers.

Before attempting any complex fixes, ensure that the audio settings of the device are turned on or correctly set. If the settings are incorrect, the volume may be too low or muted. On screen or using the keyboard (Fn+F4) adjust the volume to a moderate level. Also check that it is not muted.

If the playback app audio settings are incorrect the volume may be set too low or muted. After ensuring that all of the devices audio settings are set correctly, check the playback app’s audio settings to ensure the video or music player is not muted or set to a very low volume.

Ensure power is supplied to external speakers if required. Check to see if the external speakers (headphones) are turned on. Make sure that the volume on the external speakers (headphones) is not minimized.

Ensure that the audio plug for the external speakers or headphones is connected properly. The audio plug should fit securely in the audio jack in the device. If the audio plug is loose, disconnect the plug and examine it and the wire for any damage. If no damage is visible examine the audio jack for any damage.

If the built in speaker is not working after attempting the previous solutions but audio works fine over headphones or external speakers, most likely the built in speaker is faulty . If known good external speakers or headphones are not working but the internal speaker is, then the audio jack is most likely damaged or faulty and needs to be replaced or re-soldered.
