My device refuses to charge despite being plugged in

when attempting to charge your Sony PlayStation Vita Slim and its charging light blinks orange twice then stops suddenly, then please attempt to hard reset the system. Please attempt to do this by charging it by its AC charger and not USB charger for at least 5 minutes or so, since you want to make sure the system has some sort of charge when you try. Afterward, you can complete this by holding the power button for at least 30 seconds.

One of the simplest fixes is by making sure you are plugging in the charger correctly. As both sides of the charger will go into the system, however, there is a correct way. As the charging strip should match up with the system and should be facing up when put inside the system. as the ‘PS’ logo on the charger should be facing up when you plug it in.

You could also attempt to charge your PlayStation Vita Slim by USB charging. First you would need to go to system settings and allow your system to charge by this method. As some systems do not allow this by default, then simply plug it in and give it at least 5 mins to test to see if the battery has approved.

You could also attempt to use a new AC charger that did not come with the Sony PlayStation Vita Slim. As some better quality versions were known to have better results.

You could also have your PlayStation vita slim worked on by PlayStation tech support or maybe even replaced if it turns out to be a software error and still within warranty.

I am having trouble getting my device to sync to any WiFi source

Restarting your WiFi and your Sony PlayStation Vita Slim should be the first step as it helps renew the connections. Most people recommend restarting the PlayStation Vita Slim first. After long periods of connection sometimes it has been found that the PlayStation Vita Slim will block the access point.

A solution that some people found to work is to switch the DNS severs.

First step is to go into the PlayStation Vita Slim settings and proceed to find network settings. Inside of network settings proceed to WiFi settings so that you can select your my access point. Go into advanced settings so that you can set your DNS to manual and change the access point of your DNS. Primary DNS to 4.2.2.2 and your secondary DNS to 4.2.2.1

WiFi symbol showing for 10 seconds, then fails to connect.

First try restarting your PlayStation Vita Slim and your WiFi. Most people recommend restarting the PlayStation Vita Slim first.

Can’t connect to PSN on PS Vita NW-5603-4 error / auto disconnecting from internet.

A simple solution that seems to work for some people is to go into the WiFi settings and change the option to, disconnect Wi-Fi connection automatically, on. That would mean that there would a be a check mark in the confirming box

If you do not have this option for your PlayStation Vita Slim then disconnect from your WiFi, then clear out all access points on the system. Then restart both the router and the game system. Then attempt to either manually or automatically find the access point and see if it fixes the problem.

my device is not responding to any of my inputs, I can’t use the joysticks

Replacement for the joystick and or buttons are the best solution

After a long time of usage of a button/joystick is used or damaged the buttons/joystick may not respond at all, or half the time. Please refer to our repair manual here [insert location to it when repair manual it made].

My system regularly fails to access the memory card

making sure the memory card is inserted properly

Make sure that the system is completely off. Next take the memory card out of the system making sure that there are no debris in the way of the contact pins (the gold things). Turn the system back on to see a message telling you there is not a memory card in. While the system is on, put the memory back in making sure that it goes all the way in making a clicking noise. If that does not work turn the system back off. Then reinsert the memory card and turn back on.

My device is now just a black screen and it is refusing to show any active inputs

Make sure that the system is charging properly. It needs to be plugged into the wall with the included ac adapter. A blinking orange light means that the Vita has no more charge left in it. Wait until the orange light turns solid then try to turn it on again. When you are turning it on hold down the power button for 5 seconds. If the screen is on but unresponsive then hold the power button for 30 seconds until it completely shuts down. Wait awhile before trying to power the system back on.

Safe mode is a last ditch effort to help your device and should only be done if and only if its warranty is already out. As it is highly recommend if you can, to send in your system to be checked by PlayStation Vita Slim support center before trying this if it is still within its warranty.

So your first solution if you can, is too send it in for repair.

there is a chance that safe mode will not solve your problem and may force the item to be serviced.

Your system may also lose its data, and you should back up your data if possible before attempting this.

To activate safe mode, press and hold the following buttons while it is OFF (not standby) for 5 seconds:

“R” button + PS button + Power button

These should be the options found within Safe mode

Restart the PS Vita System - which will reboot the system and should start it back to square one.

Rebuild Database - should return everything back to original settings, may wipe all memory and all user information.

Format Memory card - wipes and clears entire memory card of all data completely.

Restore the PS Vita System - restores system to default.

Update System Software - allows you to force your system to update.
