Released on April 10th, 2009, identified by model number HDR-XR500V.

Before checking the internal components of your Handycam make sure the

power button has been pressed once. The power button is located on the inside of the LCD screen.

The battery might not be charged on the device. To charge the battery, connect the AC Adaptor and the power cord to the device to a wall outlet. When charging begins, the symbol that resembles a lightning bolt with an arrow at the end will light up. Once charging is complete, this same symbol will turn off.

If you complete this and your handycam still does not turn on, then you know the battery is not the issue.

Having the GPS setting turned on can drain your battery. Try having the GPS setting turned off when you are not using it. If you try this and the battery is still dying quickly, you might have to replace the battery.

If this message appears on your screen then this means that you will have to take your handycam to an electronic store to get the camera fixed or replace the Sony Handycam HDR-XR500 hard drive yourself…
